Across Panic Garden and 7271, Oakwood the Stranger transforms delicate, anxious whispers into explosive sonic fury, revealing one unmistakable compositional voice across two radically different musical worlds.

Vikingur’s RECRUDESCENCE is a sprawling, often spectacular metal breakup album whose sonic imagination and sophisticated arrangements are weighed down by uneven structure and nearly two hours of heavy emotions.

The same consistency that makes the album easy to live with makes the songs hard to tell apart. Xander found a sound that's recognizably theirs and holds together, and at its best, the personality outplays the house sound.

Compact, direct, and unusually clear about what it wants, the album has an architecture: the songs answer one another, perspectives shift, and the balance of power never stops moving.

There is so much good material surrounding the exceptional that the album eventually competes with itself for the listener’s finite attention.

There’s a real voice trying to emerge here, and the commitment to a full concept album in this landscape is worth real credit. But recognizable devices harden into formula fast, and this artist is standing close enough to that line to feel the heat coming off it.

Not a demo playlist. Not a “look what AI can do” tech flex. An actual, cohesive album — released publicly on Jan. 21, 2026, playable end-to-end, and sitting comfortably on Spotify like it belongs there.

Suno Studio users can now dial in sidechain compression with a few clicks, but standard-tier creators can still get that punchy, pumping mix in Suno V6-Pro with the right prompt vocabulary.
