Suno pushed a round of MIDI improvements to Suno Studio on Thursday, announced on the company's Discord. MIDI-to-audio transcription now draws on stronger musical context and stays closer to the source, and audio stems generated from MIDI clips via the chat bar are more accurate.
Generating MIDI from scratch in the chat bar should also return more consistent, predictable results. And finally, the updates allow for clip renaming, either by right-click or by prompting the chat bar to rename clips in bulk, plus bug fixes and usability tweaks.
Rather than showcasing a new generation trick, the company is inviting users to pull MIDI out of old DAW projects and push it somewhere new — a synth line reborn as a guitar solo, a sketch rearranged with different instrumentation. That's a message aimed squarely at producers with years of unfinished sessions on their hard drives.
It also fits a pattern. When Suno metered downloads starting Sept. 3, Premier subscribers working inside Studio stayed unlimited. Its new Community Collab space routes mixing and finishing work through Studio too. And a native multitrack DAW with MIDI export remains one of the clearest gaps between Suno and ElevenMusic, which is leaning on an FL Studio partnership to close it.
Studio turns one year old on Sept. 25. A year in, Suno seems less interested in Studio as a novelty than in making it the place where serious work — and paid tiers — live.
