Fresh Friday Festival checked into the hotel for Week 40. And this was no ordinary hotel.

Billed as “The Haunted Fresh Friday Hotel,” the week brought gothic luxury, dark corridors, strange characters, sinister energy and a lineup that felt perfectly suited to October.

Thirteen artists took the stage, with thirteen brand new music video premieres filling the night.

Br33zy opened the premieres with a little warning: “BE DRAMATIC.” Blegh_AI_Music followed. Audio Iterations brought another world to the stage. Mr.WhoLab, Rhontzu, TMSTRY, TAHGEE, Morrwyn of House Elarokh, Corvo Kane, Richmond, KAI, AI Garfunkel and Melodelight all checked into the hotel before the night's final curtain.

And when the votes were counted, one of the festival's newest faces walked away with the trophy. But the FFF team had another video they couldn't let leave the hotel without recognition.

Viewer’s Choice: Corvo Kane, “Welcome Outside”

After the final premiere, the FFF audience votes for its favorite video of the night. For Week 40, that vote went to Corvo Kane's “Welcome Outside.”

And this one comes with a particularly fun statistic. Week 40 was Corvo Kane's first appearance on the Fresh Friday Festival stage. At the time of the festival, the creator had just over 30 subscribers and only four videos on the channel.

Then came the trophy. New to the game and already winning trophies.

“Welcome Outside” feels like an introduction to a world rather than simply a song being presented to an audience. The video opens the door to the Black Marquee, a dark and cinematic universe where the familiar starts giving way to something much stranger.

There is a sinister carnival quality running through the experience. The atmosphere feels like you've arrived somewhere theatrical, unsettling and just a little dangerous.

You can see the gates. You can feel that something is waiting beyond them. And then you realize you've already walked through.

That's what makes the video work so well as an introduction to Corvo Kane. It doesn't explain everything, but invites you in.

The storytelling feels deliberate and commanding, while the atmosphere gives the Black Marquee the sense of being part of a much larger world still waiting to be explored.

The Craft

The most interesting element of “Welcome Outside” is the world-building itself. Rather than relying solely on the song to carry the experience, Corvo Kane uses the visual world to establish an identity and create the feeling that there is something larger happening beyond the frame.

The Black Marquee becomes part setting, part character, and part invitation. For an artist making their FFF debut, it's a remarkably confident way to introduce yourself.

Staff Pick: Br33zy, “Wine Woman Song”

BE DRAMATIC. Those are the words that kicked off this new era of Br33zy.

Even creator and songwriter Sabrina Rei probably couldn't have imagined just how dramatic things would get. “Wine Woman Song” is a spicy, sassy, dizzying Broadway showstopper that arrives on the FFF stage with absolutely no intention of behaving itself.

It's theatrical. It's ridiculous. It's bold. And it knows exactly what it wants to be: A song that demands a little dancing, a little attitude and possibly a warning to anyone standing too close.

Down, boy.

But Week 40's Staff Pick carries another meaning for the Fresh Friday Festival community.

For Br33zy, this wasn't simply another submission. It was a goodbye.

One Last Time at Fresh Friday

Br33zy recently started a new job, one that will mean they won't be available during Fresh Friday Festival every week. As a result, “Wine Woman Song” is expected to be Br33zy's final FFF submission for the foreseeable future. And that makes the Staff Pick feel particularly fitting.

Br33zy has become part of the fabric of the festival over the weeks, bringing a willingness to experiment, strange ideas, unexpected humor and a very recognizable creative personality to the stage. So if this really is the last time we get to see a Br33zy premiere on a Friday night for a while, there are worse ways to leave.

Go out with a Broadway showstopper.

“Wine Woman Song” feels like exactly the kind of ridiculous, theatrical, wonderfully excessive piece that belongs on the Fresh Friday stage. And while we'll miss having Br33zy in the weekly lineup, sometimes life opens a different door. We wish Br33zy and Sabrina Rei nothing but the best with the new job and whatever comes next.

Thank you for being part of Fresh Friday Festival.

We'll leave the light on.
