Holly+

Holly+ is composer Holly Herndon's digital voice twin, built with Voctro Labs and launched in 2021, which anyone can use to sing or transform audio in her voice. Herndon paired it with a governance experiment: a DAO of stewards was set up to approve official works made with the model and share proceeds. She frames it as "protocol art," where the creative act is designing the system rather than a single recording. It's become the reference point for artist-controlled voice models, and Herndon and Mat Dryhurst went on to found Spawning, which builds consent and opt-out tools for AI training data.
