OpenJM

A Jamaican-built AI platform whose selling point is keeping Caribbean data in Jamaica.

OpenJM launched in August 2026 from Crimson Tide AI, founded by Anu El, after roughly US$2.5 million in investment. It's an agentic, memory-centric AI platform built on customized open models, designed first for Jamaican users and later the wider Caribbean. Its core argument is data sovereignty: El has said too much of Jamaica's data goes overseas, so OpenJM processes and stores information locally. Zinstrel has grouped it with culturally native music generation efforts, but launch coverage describes a general-purpose assistant, so its music features are worth confirming before recommending it for songs. It arrived as Jamaica's national AI task force opened consultations on the country's first AI policy.
