C2PA Content Credentials

The open standard for labeling how media was made.

C2PA is the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity, an industry standard backed by Adobe, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and others for attaching tamper-evident "Content Credentials" to media that record how it was created and edited, including AI involvement. It's widely used for images and video, and Google pairs it with its SynthID watermarks across image, video and audio. Adoption in music streaming is still limited, and metadata often gets stripped when files are re-uploaded, so a missing credential proves nothing. It matters as the likely backbone for future AI disclosure rules.
