OpenAI's video model, now retired from consumers and sunsetting on the API.
Sora was OpenAI's video generator, and Sora 2 added synchronized audio and a social app that briefly made AI video a mainstream feed. OpenAI discontinued the Sora consumer app on April 26, 2026, removing it from ChatGPT plans, and announced that the Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro API would sunset on September 24, 2026. It's listed here as a reference point in AI music video history; for new projects, Google Veo, Kling and Runway are the active alternatives.
