Bandcamp, owned by Songtradr since 2023, is the leading direct-to-fan store, where artists sell downloads, vinyl, merch and subscriptions at prices they set and fans often pay more than asked. On January 13, 2026, it published "Keeping Bandcamp Human," banning music made wholly or substantially with generative AI, AI impersonation and scraping its catalog for training. Enforcement leans on community reports and allows removal on suspicion, which has drawn complaints about false positives. It's a key platform for human artists and effectively closed to AI-generated releases.
